Abacusly does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
Last updated: 3 May 2026 · Effective: 3 May 2026
Summary
Abacusly does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Everything the app saves (settings, learning progress, badges, statistics) stays on the device. Nothing is sent to Sylvanity or to any third party. The app makes no network requests.
This means there is no data to share, no data to delete, no data to retain, and no data to transfer to other countries. The "data not collected" status is reflected in the App Store Privacy Nutrition Label and will be reflected in the Google Play Data Safety section if and when the app is published on Google Play.
Who we are
Abacusly is published by Sylvanity B.V., a private limited company based in the Netherlands. Sylvanity is the data controller for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), to the extent that any data processing occurs (it does not). You can reach us at info@sylvanity.eu.
Where the app is available
Abacusly is currently distributed through the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad. If we publish the app on additional platforms (for example, Google Play for Android), we will update this policy if any practices change. The "no data collected" commitment described in this policy applies on every platform where the app is published.
Information we collect
None. Specifically:
The app has no user accounts, no login, and no registration.
The app contains no analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting SDKs operated by Sylvanity or any third party.
The app contains no advertising and no advertising identifiers are accessed.
The app makes no network requests of any kind. It does not call our servers (we have none) or any third-party server.
We do not know who is using the app, when it is used, where it is used, on what device, or for how long.
Information stored on the device
To make the app work between sessions, Abacusly saves the following on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's standard UserDefaults mechanism:
App settings (sound on or off, theme, age group).
Game progress (high score, total score, earned badges).
Per-topic statistics (questions seen, questions correct, recent attempts) used to adapt difficulty over time.
A short queue of recently missed problems used for review repetition.
Whether the onboarding screens have been completed.
This information never leaves the device. It is not transmitted to Sylvanity or to anyone else. Uninstalling the app removes all of it. There is also a "Reset All Progress" option inside the app's parent area that clears it on demand.
Children's privacy
Abacusly is designed for children, including children under 13 years old (or under 16 in some EU member states). We comply with the Apple App Store Kids Category requirements (App Review Guideline 1.3 and 5.1.4), the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU GDPR provisions on children's data (sometimes referred to as GDPR-K), and where applicable Google Play's Families Policy.
We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children of any age. Because we collect no personal information at all, parental consent for data processing is not required (there is nothing to consent to) and the verifiable parental consent requirements under COPPA do not apply.
The app contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no third-party tracking, no chat or social features, no user-generated content, no external links visible to children, no push notifications, and no gameplay that could direct a child off the app.
Permissions the app uses
Abacusly does not request access to the camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, calendar, reminders, motion, Bluetooth, or any other sensitive device permission. The app's Info.plist contains no permission usage descriptions because no permissions are required.
The app plays sound effects and optional background music using the standard iOS audio session. No recording of any kind takes place.
Required-reason API use
Apple requires apps to declare specific reasons for using certain "required-reason" APIs. Abacusly's PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy manifest declares one such use: it accesses UserDefaults for reason code CA92.1 (app functionality, specifically saving the user's settings and progress on the device). No other required-reason APIs are used.
Third-party software
Abacusly includes one third-party open-source library: ConfettiSwiftUI, used for visual celebrations when a child answers correctly. The library runs entirely on the device and performs no data collection, no network calls, and no tracking. It is included under its open-source licence.
Abacusly also uses the Nunito typeface, included under the SIL Open Font License.
Data retention
Because we do not collect any personal information, there is no retention period to disclose. We hold nothing about you, today or in the past, and have no record of you ever having installed the app.
International data transfers
Because we collect no personal information, no international transfers of personal data take place. The on-device storage described above is held only on your device and never crosses any border.
Your rights under GDPR and equivalent laws
Under the EU GDPR (and equivalent laws in the United Kingdom, California, Brazil, and other jurisdictions), you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection regarding personal data held about you.
Because Sylvanity holds no personal data about you in connection with Abacusly, there are no records to act on for any of these rights. If you nonetheless wish to confirm that we hold nothing about you, email info@sylvanity.eu and we will reply in writing.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Security
Because no information about you leaves your device, the security of the on-device data depends on your device's own security (passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, iOS sandboxing). Sylvanity has no servers that store information about you and therefore no risk of a data breach involving your information.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes (for example, if a future version of the app adds optional iCloud synchronisation, or if the app is published on Google Play and we need to add platform-specific disclosures), we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store (or Google Play) release notes for the relevant version.
